Where Does Pest Control Spray In Apartments?
Where does pest control spray in apartments? Does pest control spray the whole apartment complex or only the apartments that have infestations? These are likely questions to consider since apartments can be large complexes, with lots of empty spaces and cracks that could have insects.Apartment owners have to consider the cost of spraying large areas and the risk of infestation if not enough area is sprayed.
Firstly, pest control will spray the outside of the apartments. Pest control sprays the doors, porches, decks, and foundations. Also, Blaze Bullock, an author at Vinx Pest Control, declares that spraying the outside of an apartment can deter insects, as he states, “spray the foundation and also go around the doors.
Most of the time, this is enough to discourage the bugs from coming back” (Bullock). Spraying the outside will act as a barrier to keep the insects out. Also, bugs will be less likely to come back to a place that has been continuously sprayed. With growing apartment complexes, many bugs will be around new buildings.
According to Harley Pecker, a writer for Construction How, informs people that new buildings are inviting to insects because of the material as Pecker states, “Insects, especially cockroaches, can grow fast in the construction material and damp environment” (Pecker).
Insects are a problem, regardless of how quickly the insects reproduce. Fast reproduction will increase the chances of an infestation. If pest control does not spray the outside of apartments, the complex could have an infestation outside that could spread to the inside.
Secondly, pest control will spray inside the apartments in a complex. Pest control will spray the entire perimeter of the inside of the building. Spraying the perimeter is a common routine to keep insects away. Once insects get inside a building, an infestation can happen. According to James Oliver, a writer with an English bachelor’s degree, bed bug infestations were on the rise during 2018 and he states, “97% of all pest professionals were called to deal with at least 1 bed bug infestation during the year” (Oliver).
If the areas were sprayed beforehand, the number of infestations would have been at a smaller percentage. Another place pest control sprays inside the apartments are the areas in which insects were spotted. Spraying the areas in which the insects were spotted will kill the bugs immediately and fix most of the problem. On Upgraded Home’s website, a site for home improvement, it informs people that pest control will set bait traps if there is an infestation: “they will place bait traps and spray in areas that the insects have been spotted” (“Where Does Pest Control Spray In Apartments?”). Bait traps will be the last resort to eliminate an infestation. Most infestations are prevented by the spraying done by pest control.
In conclusion, pest control will need to spray the outside and inside of apartments to prevent infestations. Pest control will need to spray in all apartments, regardless of the presence of insects, to keep the pests from moving between buildings and units. Insects can be hiding anywhere, and apartments are very likely to have infestations. Close quarters and people moving in and out make it almost impossible for an infestation to not occur if routine spraying is not happening. Spraying outside will help apartment complexes stop infestations before one starts. If one apartment building gets an infestation, the whole complex could be in jeopardy.
